Dwight Mission was established in 1820 by the Presbyterian Church for the Cherokees on the Illinois Bayou just north of the Arkansas River.
The Mission was later moved to Oklahoma Indian Territory when the
Indian Nations were relocated in Oklahoma during the Trail of Tears movement.
